Re-publishing an item

Learn how to clear publishing data and re-publish items in Dext, including steps for items in the Archive or Inbox and guidance on avoiding duplicates in your accounting software.

When you publish an item from Dext to your connected accounting software, we attach a tag to prevent it from being published twice.

If an item was published incorrectly, needs changes, or shows an error when you try to re-publish it, you’ll need to clear its publishing data.

Important: You must be an Admin user or have publishing permissions to publish items.


Re-publishing an item from the Archive

  1. Go to your accounting software and delete the previously published version of the item to avoid creating duplicates.

  2. Return to Dext and open the Archive tab in Costs, Sales, or Expense claims.

  3. Select the item/s using the checkbox on the left, then click Unarchive.

4. When prompted, tick Clear publishing data, then click Unarchive to confirm.

Re-publishing an item from the Inbox

If you’ve already unarchived the item but did not clear its publishing data:

  1. Go to your accounting software and delete the previously published version of the item.

  2. Return to Dext and open the Inbox tab in Costs, Sales, or Expense claims.

  3. Select the item, click Tools, then choose Clear publishing data.

You can now publish the item again.
