How to manage your practice subscription in Dext

Manage your Dext practice subscription - adjust client limits, monitor and top up credits, and add features like AI Assist and Vault+.

Your practice subscription controls your client limits, credits, and add-ons. You can view and manage all of these from the Subscription page in Practice settings.

Dext offers two practice plans - Practice Essentials and Practice Advanced - both available on an annual paid monthly or monthly paid monthly billing term, with a minimum of 10 clients.

Note: Only Practice Admins can access the Subscription page and make changes to the subscription.


Accessing your subscription

To access your subscription, go to Practice settings in the left-hand navigation, then select Subscription. From here, you can view your current plan, monitor client usage and credits, and manage add-ons.

Your subscription overview

The Subscription page gives you an at-a-glance view of your current plan and client usage. The Client usage section shows how many clients you have active across Business clients and Self-employed clients (Dext Solo), alongside any active or available add-ons. Select View client usage for a detailed breakdown of credit usage across individual clients.

What's included in your plan

Every Dext practice plan includes the following at no extra cost:

  • Unlimited document extraction for all clients on your subscription - there are no document extraction limits for business or Dext Solo clients using Dext under your practice plan

  • Unlimited team members - you can add as many colleagues to your practice as you need

  • Unlimited users per client account - your clients can also add as many users to their accounts as they need

Your plan also includes a credits allowance for Bank Statement Extraction, Supplier Statement Extraction, Line Item Extraction, and Boost. These are not unlimited - once your allowance runs out, usage is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis. You can reduce costs by purchasing a prepaid bundle. Credits are covered in detail below.

How to see your client usage

To see a breakdown of credit usage across your clients, select View client usage on the Subscription page.

This opens a detailed breakdown per client for the current billing period, including items extracted and usage of Bank Statement Extraction, Line Item Extraction, Supplier Statement Extraction, and Boost. You can export this data as a CSV.

Upgrading your client limit

To add more clients to your plan:

  1. Go to Practice settings, then Subscription.

  2. Select Upgrade client limit in the Bookkeeping tile.

  3. Adjust the number of Business clients and Self-employed (Dext Solo) clients using the controls.

  4. Review the updated credits included in your plan, then select Review purchase.

  5. Review your purchase and select Upgrade plan. Your new client limit is available immediately, and payment starts from your next bill date.

Downgrading your plan

To reduce your client limit, go to Practice settings > Subscription and select Upgrade client limit. Use the icon to reduce the number of Business clients or Self-employed (Dext Solo) clients, then select Review purchase.

If the Review purchase button isn't selectable, contact your dedicated Dext Account Manager.


Credits

Credits are used when your clients use certain extraction features. Your included credits are shared across all client accounts, reset at the start of each billing period, and don't roll over.

Your included allowance is based on your client count, starting at 10 clients - the minimum for any plan. Each additional client increases your allowance:

Once your included allowance runs out, usage continues at the pay-as-you-go rate for that credit type. Purchasing a prepaid bundle gives you a set number of credits each month at a discounted rate - bundles follow your plan's billing term.

Note: Credit usage from your practice's own business account counts towards your shared allowance in the same way as client usage.

Buying a prepaid bundle

Prepaid bundles are available in multiples of 50 for all credit types.

To buy or upgrade a bundle:

  1. Go to Practice settings, then Subscription.

  2. Scroll to the Credits section.

  3. Select Buy bundle next to the credit type you want. If you already have a bundle, select Upgrade bundle.

  4. Choose your bundle size and select Continue.

  5. Review your purchase and select Upgrade bundle. Your new bundle is available immediately, and a prorated charge is applied from today until your next bill date.

Add-ons

Add-ons are features available to purchase on top of your base plan. Active add-ons appear on your Subscription page with their current status. To start a free trial or purchase an add-on, go to Practice settings > Subscription and find the relevant tile in the Client usage section.

Billing details and invoice history

You can view your billing details and past invoices from the Subscription sub-navigation. Select Billing Details to view or update your payment information, or Invoice history to see past charges.

Cancelling your subscription

To cancel your practice subscription, contact your dedicated Dext Account Manager directly.
