Boost is a Dext feature that speeds up document processing by prioritising items already in the processing queue. It helps you extract data from submitted paperwork faster in both the Sales and Costs workspaces.

Important: Boost is available to accountants and bookkeepers, and to small businesses with a direct Dext subscription. It is not available to clients managed under an accountant's or bookkeeper’s practice.

When should you use Boost?

Use Boost when you need documents that are already being processed to be completed as quickly as possible. Boost moves eligible items to the top of Dext’s processing queue, reducing the time it takes for data extraction.

Boost only applies to items that are already in the Processing tab.

How Boost works

When paperwork is uploaded to Dext, it is added to a processing queue. Processing time can vary depending on how many items are being handled across the platform.

When you use Boost:

  • All eligible items currently being processed for that account are prioritised.

  • Boosted items are typically extracted within a few minutes.

  • The action applies to all items currently being processed in the account, not individual documents.

How to boost items in processing

  1. Go to the Sales or Costs workspace.

  2. Open the Processing tab.

  3. Select Boost items.

Costs inbox in the Dext web app showing the In processing tab, with the Boost items button visible above a queued invoice and a tooltip explaining that Boost skips items to the front of the extraction queue.

Once selected, Dext moves the items to the top of the processing queue automatically.

Items that cannot be boosted

Boost does not apply to:

  • Items using Supplier line item extraction.

These items will continue processing at the standard speed.

Managing Boost access and usage

You can check whether Boost is included in your subscription and see how many times you’ve used it by going to Practice settings or Business settings > Subscription in the Dext web app.
