Upload the sales invoices you’ve issued to customers to the Sales inbox, and Dext extracts the key details from each one. You can upload from the web app, the Dext mobile app or by email, or import sales automatically with Commerce Lite.
Upload sales documents in the web app
To upload sales documents in the Dext web app, use Add documents:
Select Add documents.
In the upload panel, select the Sales tab. If you’re already in the Sales workspace, it’s selected for you.
Choose the Document owner.
Choose how Dext should split your files:
One document per file: each file becomes a separate item.
One document per page (PDF only): each page becomes a separate item.
Auto-splitting (PDF only): Dext finds where each document starts and ends in the file.
Drag and drop your files into the upload area, or select it to choose files.
Upload sales documents in the Dext mobile app
To upload a sales document in the Dext mobile app, open the camera from the Sales tab:
Go to the Sales tab.
Tap Add (the camera icon) at the bottom right. The camera opens set to Sales.
Take a photo of the document, check it and tap Submit.
To upload a photo or PDF that’s already on your phone, open the camera from the Sales tab. Tap the gallery button at the bottom left, then choose Photos or PDF files (max 50).

Import online sales with Commerce Lite
If you sell through platforms such as Amazon, eBay or Shopify, Commerce Lite can import your sales invoices automatically. For details, go to Using Commerce Lite to import online sales
What happens after you upload a sales document
After you upload a sales document, Dext processes it automatically. The item moves to the In processing tab of your Sales inbox while Dext extracts these details:
Currency
Total amount and tax amount
Customer
Invoice date and due date
Invoice number
If the customer name on the invoice isn’t in your customer list yet, Dext suggests a match. You can apply the suggestion or ignore it. For details, go to How to manage your customers list in Dext
Note: Customer rules for the Due date field overwrite the due date Dext extracts.
Manage your processed sales invoices
After processing, your sales invoices appear in the Sales inbox, where you can:
Check and edit the extracted details
Request approval
Publish them to your connected accounting software
Archive them to your Sales Archive
Publish sales invoices to your accounting software
You can publish sales invoices straight from Dext if you’re connected to one of these:
Important: If you have a secondary integration, you can only publish sales invoices to your primary integration. You can’t publish them to secondary tools such as Bill.com, WorkflowMax or Gusto.
