The Dext mobile app allows you to upload receipts and invoices, scan documents, create expense and mileage claims, publish items to your accounting software, and manage your account from your mobile device.
Accept your invitation and log in to the Dext mobile app
1. Open your invitation
You’ll receive an invitation to join Dext by email or SMS.
If you receive an email invitation
Open the email and tap Accept invite.
If you receive a text message (SMS)
Open the text message and tap the invitation link.
2. Set your password
You’ll be taken to a secure Dext page where you can create your password.
Enter a password that meets the listed requirements.
Tap Sign up to accept the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
Once completed, you’ll see a confirmation message that your account has been created.
3. Download and open the Dext mobile app
If you don’t already have the Dext mobile app installed:
Download it from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
Return to the invitation page in your browser.
Tap Sign in to the mobile app.
If prompted, tap Open to launch the app.
4. Access your account
The Dext mobile app will open and automatically sign you in to the account you were invited to. You’ll land in the Costs inbox, where you can begin uploading receipts and invoices.
If you close the page before signing in
If you leave the invitation page before opening the app, you can log in manually:
Open the Dext mobile app.
Enter the email address you were invited with.
Enter the password you created.
Navigate the Dext mobile app
When you log in to the Dext mobile app, you’ll see the main navigation bar at the bottom of the screen:
Costs – View and manage supplier invoices, receipts and bills.
Sales – View and manage customer invoices.
Camera – Scan and upload receipts and invoices.
Camera – Scan receipts and invoices. Tap the ^ (up arrow) next to the camera to:
Create a mileage claim
Add documents to Vault
Expense claims – Create and manage expense reports.
More – Access settings, integrations and support.
You can switch between sections at any time using the bottom navigation.
Scan and upload receipts and invoices in the Dext mobile app
You can use the Dext mobile app to scan paper receipts, upload invoices, and submit PDF documents.
To scan and upload a document:
Open the Costs or Sales inbox.
Tap the Camera button.
Capture your document.
Review the image and add any additional details.
Tap Submit.
When you open the camera from:
The Costs inbox, the document is automatically set to Costs.
The Sales inbox, the document is automatically set to Sales.
After you upload a receipt or invoice, the item will appear in your inbox with a Processing status while Dext extracts the data.

Create expense claims
Once you’ve uploaded receipts in the Dext mobile app, you can create an expense claim.
To create an expense claim:
Select one or more items.
Tap the (...) menu.
Choose Create expense claim.
Enter the required details and tap Create.
You can also create a new expense claim directly from the Expense claims tab.

You can create a mileage claim in the Dext mobile app to record business travel using a company vehicle.
To create a mileage claim:
Tap the ^ (up arrow) next to the camera icon.
Select Create mileage claim.
Choose to log your trip manually or use GPS tracking.
Enter or review the trip details.
Tap Create.

Use Vault in the Dext mobile app
You can use Vault in the Dext mobile app to securely store and organise important business documents.
To add a document to Vault:
Tap the ^ (up arrow) next to the camera icon.
Select Add to Vault.
Choose your file and select a folder.

Publish items from the Dext mobile app
If your account is connected to accounting software, you can publish items directly from the Dext mobile app.
To publish an item:
Open the item.
Review the extracted details.
Tap Publish.

Turn on push notifications
Push notifications help you stay updated on your uploaded receipts and invoices.
When enabled, you may receive notifications when:
Dext has finished extracting data from your documents
You receive a message about an item from your accountant
You’re reminded to upload expenses
To enable push notifications:
Open your device’s Settings.
Tap Notifications.
Select Dext.
Turn on Allow Notifications.
You can manage push notifications for the Dext mobile app directly from your device settings.
Switch between accounts in the Dext mobile app
If you are part of multiple Dext accounts, you can switch between them within the mobile app.
