How to detect missing bank data in Dext

Enable missing period alerts in Dext to automatically detect and resolve gaps in your bank statement history.

Written by Alexander

Dext can automatically detect periods of missing transaction history between your uploaded bank statements by comparing opening and closing balances and dates.

When a gap is found, an alert appears in the Bank > Statements > Processed tab so you can resolve it.

Important: This feature applies to Bank Statement Extraction only.

Enable missing period alerts

To detect missing bank data in Dext, enable the Missing period toggle in Business settings.

  1. Go to Business settings > Extraction.

  2. In the Bank statements section, enable the Missing period toggle.

Once enabled, Dext will display alerts in Bank > Statements > Processed whenever it detects a gap between uploaded statements.

Resolve a missing period

When a missing period is detected, an alert appears in the Bank > Statements > Processed tab.

To resolve it:

  1. Select Resolve next to the alert.

  2. Choose Add documents from the menu.

  3. The upload window will open with the correct bank account preselected.

  4. Upload the missing statement to close the gap.

If you don't have the missing statement, select Dismiss from the same menu to clear the alert without uploading.

Note: For file requirements and upload steps, go to How to upload bank statements in Dext.
