The Bank workspace allows you to manage all transactions imported into Dext from your bank statements or connected bank accounts.

Important: Only Admin users can access the Bank workspace. This includes accountants and bookkeepers accessing a client account.

The three areas in the Bank workspace

The Bank workspace is divided into three sections:

  • Transactions

  • Statements

  • Bank accounts

Transactions

The Transactions page displays all transactions for the selected bank account.

Transactions can come from:

  • Extracted bank statements

  • Connected bank feeds (via the Bank feeds feature)

  • Bank feeds synced through your accounting software (if applicable)

You select which bank account to view using the bank account dropdown in the top right.

Bank accounts

The Bank accounts page provides an overview of all bank accounts in a Dext account, whether they were:

  • Added manually

  • Connected via bank feed

  • Imported through an accounting software integration

Dext highlights any bank accounts that require your attention.

Bank accounts page in the Bank workspace showing a list of connected bank accounts with status, bank name, account number, currency, source, and Manage options.

By default, the following information is displayed:

  • Bank account name

  • Bank or integration name

  • Account number (last four digits)

  • Currency

  • Last closing date

  • Last closing balance

  • Source of the account

  • Last sync date

Clicking anywhere on a bank account row opens the Transactions page filtered for that account.

You can customise the columns shown by selecting the cog icon in the top right and choosing which fields to display.

Add a bank account

To import transactions into Dext, you first need to create a bank account.

You can do this in two ways:

  • Manually (for uploading bank statements)

  • Via bank feed (for automatic transaction imports)

Manually add a bank account

Manually adding a bank account allows you to upload bank statements for extraction.

You’ll search for your bank and enter the required details to create the account.

For step-by-step guidance, see Using Bank statement extraction in Dext.

Connect a bank feed

Connecting a bank feed automatically imports transactions into Dext.

For detailed instructions, see Using Bank feeds in Dext.
