Why was my bank statement rejected in Dext?

Find out why your bank statement was rejected in Dext. Covers statement status, common rejection reasons, and duplicate uploads.

Written by Alexander

When a bank statement can't be processed, Dext rejects it and flags the reason in the Bank > Statements > Collected tab. This article explains where to find the rejection reason and what the most common causes are.

Check your statement status

To check whether a bank statement was rejected in Dext, go to Bank > Statements > Collected.

Statements appear in the Collected tab while they're being processed. Once extraction is complete, they move to the Processed tab. If a statement was rejected, it stays in the Collected tab with a Rejected status.

Note: You won't be charged for rejected statements.

Common rejection reasons

Not all bank statements can be processed. Here are the most common reasons a statement is rejected in Dext:

  • It contains statements from multiple banks or accounts

  • The document is a photo taken by a camera, not a scan

  • The scan quality is too low (below 200dpi)

  • The file combines different formats, such as a mix of scanned and digital pages

  • There is heavy handwriting on transaction lines

  • The statement has no transactions or contains missing pages

If your file was rejected for one of these reasons, correct the issue and re-upload. For file format and resolution requirements, go to How to upload bank statements in Dext.

Duplicate uploads

If a file you upload matches one that was previously submitted, Dext automatically rejects it to prevent duplicate processing.

  • The rejection message will include the Source ID of the original statement and its associated bank account

  • Select the Source ID to jump directly to the original statement
