Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Dext account. Even if someone has your password, they can’t log in without your second verification method.

Note: If you log in using Single Sign-On (SSO), you do not need to enable 2FA in Dext.

What is 2FA?

2FA helps keep your account secure by requiring both your password and a unique verification code when logging in. This one-time code can be sent via:

  • An authenticator app (like Google Authenticator, 1Password, Microsoft Authenticator)

  • SMS text message

  • Email

You can enable 2FA in your individual user settings at any time.

Tip: If you use an authenticator app but don’t have access to your mobile device, you can retrieve your codes using the respective desktop app.

Where to enable 2FA

All 2FA methods are enabled from the same place in the web app.

  1. Click your Profile icon in the top-right corner.

  2. Select User settings.

  3. Open the Security tab.

Backup codes

When 2FA is enabled, Dext generates 12 one-time backup codes.

Use a backup code if:

  • You lose access to your phone

  • You can’t access your authenticator app

  • You’re not receiving SMS or email codes

If you’re locked out and don’t have backup codes, contact the Dext support team using the email linked to your Dext account.
