Use trusted devices to avoid verifying your identity every time you log into your Dext account with two-factor authentication (2FA). Once a device is trusted, you won’t be asked for a verification code every time - saving you a step at login.
Important: A device refers to a browser session. If you use both Chrome and Firefox on the same computer, each counts as a separate trusted device. Incognito or private windows are also treated as new devices.
Verifying a Trusted Device
Log into your Dext account.
2. You’ll receive a 2FA code via your selected method (like SMS or authenticator app).
3. Enter the code and click Verify.
4. On the next screen, click Trust Device to mark it as trusted.
Dext won’t ask for a verification code next time you log in on this browser.
Or, click Skip if you prefer not to trust the device.
You’ll get an email confirmation whether you trust or skip trusting the device. If skipped, the email will also alert you that a login happened from an untrusted device.
Managing Your Trusted Devices
To view or manage your trusted devices:
1. Click your profile icon in the top right.
2. Go to User Settings.
From there, you can:
See a list of trusted devices, sorted by last login date.
Rename a device using the pencil icon.
Remove a device by clicking Remove.
Removing a device logs it out of your account, and 2FA will be required again on the next login.
Troubleshooting: Device Isn’t Being Remembered
If Dext keeps asking for a verification code on the same device, your browser may be clearing cookies or site data. Here's how to fix it:
Google Chrome
Click the three dots (top right) > Settings.
Go to Privacy and security > Site Settings.
Scroll down to Additional content settings > On-device site data.
Make sure to select Allow sites to save data on your device
Mozilla Firefox
Click the three bars (top right) > Settings.
Go to Privacy & Security.
Under Cookies and Site Data, uncheck Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed.
Microsoft Edge
Click the three dots (top right) > Settings.
Go to Privacy, Search, and Services.
Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear every time you close the browser.
Turn off the option for Cookies and other site data.
Trusted Devices and Multiple Dext Accounts
Trusted devices are tied to each email address. If you have multiple Dext accounts under different emails, your trusted status won't carry over.
To make device trust work across accounts, use the:
Multi-account Management for Accountants & Bookkeepers
Managing Multiple Business Accounts with One Email
Mobile Devices and 2FA
The Dext mobile app automatically treats your phone as a trusted device. Since access is protected by your phone’s biometric or security features (like Face ID, fingerprint, or passcode), there’s no need to verify separately.
The Last Login field in your trusted devices list updates whenever your mobile device syncs or logs in - even without manual action.
