Important: This article is about the Dext Payments Beta, an upcoming feature currently in development.
For accounting & bookkeeping practices and their clients
This guide walks you through setting up the new Payments feature in Dext - from selecting clients to enabling the feature, completing KYC, and making your first payment.
1. Invite clients to use Payments
Start by choosing which clients you want to introduce to Payments.
Steps:
Select clients for your Payments trial.
Share our Payments 1-pager and walk them through any questions.
Let them know about the setup process and KYC (Know Your Customer) requirements.
2. Enable the Payments feature for a client
Once you enable Payments for a client, both you and your client will see a Payments tab in the left sidebar. This also triggers an email to the Business Owner prompting them to complete the setup.
Steps:
Go to Business Settings.
Select Subscription.
Click Enable Payments.
Return to the client’s space - you’ll now see Payments in the sidebar.
Watch how to enable payments:
3. Help your client complete the KYC process
Only one user - ideally the Business Owner or someone with similar authority - should complete the KYC process. This step verifies their business identity and activates their Payments wallet.
Client steps:
Open the Payments space in their Dext account.
Follow the on-screen steps to upload KYC documentation and set up the wallet.
See the full KYC process:
4. Make the first payment
Once KYC is complete and the wallet is active, your client can begin making payments.
Steps:
Complete the integration with Xero (follow on-screen instructions).
Make the first payment.
