If you have an Admin role in a Dext account, you can send a password reset link to another user. They’ll receive an email to create a new password.
Resetting a user’s password updates their login across all Dext accounts they're part of.
Note: If you’re an accountant or bookkeeper trying to reset a colleague's password, they’ll need to reset it themselves by following the steps in How to reset your password in Dext.
Who can reset another user’s password in Dext?
To reset another user’s password, you must have an Admin role in that Dext account. Accountants/bookkeepers accessing a client account act as Admins by default.
Important:
Business Admins can reset the passwords for all users in their business.
User Admins can only reset the passwords for other User Admins and Standard Users in their business.

How to reset another user’s password
You can reset another user’s password from the Users page in the Dext web app.
Log in to Dext in your browser.
In the left-hand sidebar, select Users.
Make sure you’re on the Active tab.
Find the user whose password you want to reset.
On the far right of their row, select Manage.
From the dropdown menu, select Reset Password.
Select Send link in the confirmation window.
The user will receive an email with a link to reset their password. If they don’t receive the email, ask them to check their spam folder.
What happens after you reset a user’s password?
After you select Send link, the user receives a password reset email.
The email:
Includes the name of the administrator who requested the reset
Contains a Reset your password button
Allows the user to create a new password for their Dext account
When the user sets a new password:
They’ll be logged out of Dext on all devices
The new password applies to all accounts they belong to
