Use Bank Match in Dext Solo to reconcile your clients' bank transactions with their cost and sales items.

Bank Match in Dext Solo lets you reconcile bank transactions with cost and sales items in your Solo client's account. Dext identifies potential matches automatically - you review and confirm them. You can also match transactions manually when no suggestion is found.

Matching a transaction to an item marks it as paid and prevents duplicate entries in tax reports. Matched transactions are also visible from the Costs and Sales inboxes. The Match column shows the match status for each item alongside its other details.

Note: Bank Match in Dext Solo is a separate feature from Bank Match in Dext. Solo Bank Match reconciles transactions within Dext itself across both Costs and Sales. Dext Bank Match works with Cost items and is designed for reconciliation with connected accounting software such as Xero, Sage Accounting, or MYOB.

How Dext identifies matches

Dext suggests matches based on the following criteria:

  • The total amount of the transaction and item must match

  • For items without a due date: the transaction must be paid within 90 days of the item date

  • For items with a due date: the transaction must be paid within 30 days of the due date

  • Dext looks back up to 18 months for potential matches across both Costs and Sales

  • Up to 10 suggested matches are shown per transaction

Match statuses

The Match column uses colour to indicate the state of each transaction:

  • Match (grey) - no match found yet; select to match manually

  • Match found / Matches found (yellow) - Dext has identified a potential match; hover to review and confirm

  • Matched with a green icon - the transaction is fully matched and amounts balance

  • Matched with a yellow icon - the transaction is partially matched; amounts don't balance

Note: The Match column isn't shown by default in all views. If you don't see it in the Costs or Sales inbox, or in the Transactions page, select the column settings icon in the top right of the list and enable Match from the column options.

Confirm a suggested match

When Dext finds a potential match, the Match column shows Match found or Matches found with a count (multiple suggestions), both in yellow. Hover over the status to see the suggested item's details and confirm directly from the tooltip.

To confirm a suggested match:

  1. Go to Bank in the sidebar, then select Transactions.

  2. In the Match column, hover over Match found or Matches found.

  3. In the tooltip, select the eye icon to open the suggested item in a new tab, or select the match icon to confirm the match directly.

Once confirmed, the transaction shows as Matched in the Match column. The matched item is marked as paid in the Payment section of its details page.

Match a transaction manually

If Dext hasn't found a match, the Match column shows Match in grey. Select it to match the transaction manually.

  1. Go to Bank, then Transactions.

  2. In the Match column, select the grey Match status next to the transaction.

  3. In the Match transaction modal, select Costs or Sales depending on where the item is.

  4. Select the item you want to match, then select Match.

You can match a transaction to more than one item. Select multiple items before selecting Match.

Once confirmed, the transaction shows as Matched in the Match column.

When amounts don't balance

Three scenarios can result in a balance mismatch after matching.

If the transaction amount exceeds the matched item total, Dext shows an Overpaid matched items prompt. Select Add another match to match additional items, or select Split now to open the splits view and categorise the remaining amount manually.

If the combined total of matched items exceeds the transaction amount, the splits view shows a Total out by error. Select Splits on the right of the transaction row, and adjust the split amounts so they add up to the transaction total.

If a transaction is partially matched, hover over the Matched status and select Add adjustment. This opens the splits view with a balancing line added automatically, so you can categorise the difference without manually calculating the remaining amount.

Track match history

Dext records every match and unmatch event on the item's details page. To view this, open the item from Costs or Sales and select the History tab. The history shows who performed the match and when.
