Splitting divides a single costs or sales item into 2 separate items. Both items keep the full document image from the original, but you can set different categories and amounts for each.
When should I split an item?
Splitting is useful when a single document contains 2 separate transactions that were uploaded together. Splitting lets you process each transaction as its own item in Dext.
How to split an item
To split an item in Dext, you'll need to open it from your Costs or Sales inbox first.
Open the item you want to split from your Costs or Sales inbox.
Select Split at the top of the Item details page.
In the Split item panel, review and complete the details for both items:
Current item - update if needed:
Category, Product/Service, Total amount, Tax amount
New item - enter the details for the split item:
Category, Total amount, Tax amount
Select Split to confirm.
Note: All other fields on the new item are copied from the current item. Both items share the same document image.
Both items appear in your inbox. The new item shows a Split item notice on its details page with a link back to the original.
Can I undo a split?
To undo a split, delete the new item created by the split. The original item remains in your inbox unchanged.
