Bank Match automatically identifies Cost items in Dext that match transactions in your accounting software bank feed, bank statements in Dext, or cash-coded payments. This helps you avoid duplicate publishing and speeds up reconciliation.

Important:

  • Bank Match works differently depending on whether your account is connected to a supported accounting software integration.

  • Full functionality, including Autofill Payment, is available only for accounts connected to Xero, Sage Accounting, or MYOB.

How Bank Match works

Bank Match compares items in your Costs inbox with unreconciled transactions in:

  • Your accounting software bank feed

  • Bank transactions within Dext

  • Cash-coded payments

If a match is found, a Match icon appears in the Match column in your Costs inbox.

You can hover over the Match icon to view details about the matching transaction.

Matching items are determined by:

  • Matching total amount

  • Items paid within 30 days of the document date (if no due date is set)

  • Items paid within 10 days of the due date (if a due date is set)

Bank Match can only match items to transactions that already exist in Dext. It does not create transactions - it links existing Cost items to matching bank records.

Bank Match reviews transactions from the last 6 months only. This ensures matching remains accurate and efficient by focusing on recent, relevant transactions.

Transactions older than 6 months must be published manually.

Publish a matched item

When an item shows the Match icon:

  1. Open the item from the Costs inbox.

  2. Review the Category and any tracking fields.

  3. Go to the Payment section.

  4. Select Autofill Payment (if available).

  5. Review all details.

  6. Select Publish.

Autofill Payment ensures the payment details match the bank transaction exactly.

Where the item appears after publishing

After publishing, the item will be ready for reconciliation in your accounting software:

  • Xero – appears in the Reconcile screen

  • Sage Accounting – appears in the Banking section

  • MYOB – appears in the Banking section

Bank Match without a supported integration

If your Dext account is not connected to Xero, Sage Accounting, or MYOB:

  • Bank Match can still identify potential matches using transaction data in Dext

  • The Match icon will appear in the Costs inbox and Transactions page

  • Autofill Payment will not be available

To reconcile the item:

  1. Assign a Payment method manually.

  2. Review the item details.

  3. Publish or export the item.

When Bank Match does not apply

Bank Match will not apply if:

  • The transaction is older than 6 months

  • The total amount does not match

  • The payment date falls outside the matching window

In these cases, you will have to publish the item manually.
