After you submit receipts or invoices to the Sales or Costs workspace in Dext, extraction can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours before the item appears in the Inbox. In most cases, extraction takes around 30 minutes. At busy times, when many users are submitting documents, it can take a few hours.
Why extraction time varies
Extraction time varies for two main reasons: how busy Dext's processing queue is, and whether an item needs extra processing.
All submitted items join a processing queue after upload. The length of this queue depends on how many submissions Dext is handling at the time. While an item is being processed, you can see it in the Processing tab of the Inbox.
Items with line item extraction enabled always take longer, because each individual line must be read and extracted separately.
How to speed up extraction
If an item is taking longer than expected, you have two ways to speed it up.
Use Boost
Boost prioritises items that are still processing in the Sales or Costs workspace, moving them to the top of the queue so they're extracted faster — typically within a few minutes. Select Boost items in the Processing tab to use it. For full details on eligibility and access, go to What is Boost in Dext?
Move the item to the Inbox
If you need the item immediately and can't wait for Boost, you can move it directly to the Inbox by selecting Move to inbox or Move all items to inbox, and complete the extraction manually.
Note: Supplier and customer rules apply during automatic extraction. If you move an item out of processing, these rules may not be applied.
If an item is stuck in processing
If an item has been in processing for more than 24 hours, contact the Dext support team.
