After you submit receipts, invoices, or other financial documents to Dext, extraction can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours before the item appears in the Inbox.

In most cases, extraction takes around 30 minutes. At busy times, when many users are submitting documents, it can take a few hours.

Note: Items with line item extraction enabled will always take longer to process. This is because each individual line must be read and extracted, which adds extra processing time compared to standard document extraction.

Why extraction time varies

All submitted items are added to a processing queue after upload. The length of this queue depends on how many submissions Dext is handling at the time.

While an item is being processed, you can still see it in the Processing tab of the Inbox.

Inbox view showing a document in the Processing tab of the Inbox page with columns for Item ID, user, filename, submission method, and extraction progress. The extraction status shows how many fields are extracted, with buttons to boost the item or move it to the Inbox.

If you need the item immediately

You can move one item or all items directly to the Inbox by clicking the Move to inbox or Move all items to inbox button, and complete the extraction manually.

Important: Supplier and customer rules take place during data extraction. If you move an item out of processing, rules may not be applied.

Speeding up processing with Boost

You can also use Boost to prioritise items that are still processing. Boost moves items forward in the queue so they are processed faster.
