Written by Alexander

If your accountant or bookkeeper currently pays for your Dext account and you want your business to take over billing, you can do this through your Business settings. Once you take over, billing moves to your business and your documents, settings, and users remain unchanged.

Important: Only a Business Admin can complete these steps. For more details, go to Roles and permissions in Dext

Take over payment from your accountant

To take over your Dext subscription from your accountant, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Business settings > Subscription in the Dext web app.

  2. Select Change who pays.

  3. Follow the steps to purchase your plan.

After taking over

Once you've completed the takeover, billing moves to your business and the account will no longer sit under your accountant's practice subscription. You now have 2 options for how to work with your accountant going forward.

Stay connected to your accountant

You can remain connected to your accountant as a self-paying client. They will continue to have access to your account and can keep working with you. No further action is required if you want to continue working together.

Remove your accountant's access

If you no longer work with your accountant, you can remove their access from your account. See How to remove or change your accountant's access to your Dext account for step-by-step instructions.
