If you've given an accountant or bookkeeper access to your Dext account, you can remove or change that access at any time from Business settings.

Important: You must be a Business Admin or User Admin to manage accountant access. If you don't have this level of access, contact your account administrator.

Remove your accountant's access

To remove your accountant or bookkeeper's access to your account:

  1. Go to Business settings > Accountant.

  2. Select Disconnect.

  3. Review the options on the panel that appears and select Disconnect to confirm.

Removing your accountant's access doesn't affect your documents, settings, or historical data.

Note: If your accountant was paying for your Dext subscription, you'll need to activate your own subscription to continue using Dext. See What to do if your account has been deactivated below.

Change your accountant

You can only have one accountant or bookkeeper connected to your account at a time. Inviting someone new will automatically disconnect the current one.

To change your accountant or bookkeeper:

  1. Go to Business settings > Accountant.

  2. Select Invite someone else.

  3. Enter the email address of the new accountant or bookkeeper and select Send invite.

Changing your accountant or bookkeeper doesn't affect your documents, settings, or historical data.

For details on what happens after you send the invite, see How to invite your accountant to access your Dext account.

What to do if your account has been deactivated or disconnected

If your accountant or bookkeeper has disconnected or deactivated your account, you'll see a message at the top of your screen with a Manage subscription link that takes you directly to the Subscription page.

If your account has been disconnected

Your accountant is no longer connected to your account. To continue using Dext, go to Business settings > Subscription and either:

  • Select Start a free trial to start a 14-day free trial, or

  • Select a plan and select Buy now to subscribe directly

If your account has been deactivated

Your accountant is still connected to your account but has suspended your Dext services. You can either:

Note: If you can't see the Subscription page, you're not an Admin user. Contact your account administrator or accountant to request access.
