How to customise the line item editor in Dext

Hide the document preview, switch to a vertical split, or manage columns and density in the line item editor.

Written by Alexander

You can change how the line item editor looks and which columns it shows, whether your line items were added by extraction or created manually. These settings apply to the line item editor on the Item details page for both Costs and Sales items.

Hide the document preview

To hide the document preview and give the line item editor more space, select Hide preview at the top of the line item editor. Only the line item editor remains visible, so you have more room to edit rows.

Switch to a vertical split

To view the document preview and the line item editor side by side, select Vertical split at the top of the line item editor. The document preview moves to the left and the line item editor moves to the right.

You can resize the 2 sections by dragging the divider between them. Select Horizontal split to switch back to the default layout.

Manage columns and table density

To show or hide columns, or to change the row spacing in the line item table, select the settings icon in the upper-right corner of the table.

  1. Select or deselect the columns you want to show or hide.

  2. Scroll to Table density and choose Wide, Medium, or Narrow.

  3. Select Apply to save your changes.

Available columns

The line item table splits columns into primary columns, which are visible by default and cover core details such as description, category, and quantity, and additional columns, such as unit price (inc. tax), that you can add if needed.

Note: Available columns vary depending on your connected accounting software and whether you're viewing a Costs or Sales item.
