To reactivate your Dext account, you need to buy a plan. Your data is safe in the meantime - whether your account has expired, been cancelled, deactivated, or disconnected, you keep access to your account and can still download your data. Reactivating restores full access.

Important: Only Business Admins can see the Manage subscription link in the banner and access the Subscription page to complete a purchase.

After deactivation or disconnection by an accountant

If your accountant has deactivated or disconnected your account, a banner appears at the top of your Dext account.

Select Manage subscription in the banner, or go to Business settings > Subscription, to reach the Subscription page.

What you see there depends on whether your account has had a free trial before:

  • No trial used - select Start a free trial to begin a 14-day trial before committing to a plan. You can buy a plan at any point during the trial from the same page.

  • Trial already used - you'll go straight to plan selection.

If your account was disconnected, you'll see a Change who pays button on the Subscription page instead. Selecting it takes you to the same plan selection flow.

After cancellation or expiry

Whether your subscription was cancelled manually or expired automatically, the resolution is the same. Select Manage subscription in the banner at the top of your Dext account, or go to Business settings > Subscription.

Automatic cancellation after failed payments

If a payment fails, Dext retries the charge automatically before cancelling your subscription. For card payments, Dext makes up to 4 attempts:

  • Attempt 1: on your billing date

  • Attempt 2: 3 days after the first attempt

  • Attempt 3: 5 days after the second attempt

  • Attempt 4: 7 days after the third attempt

All attempts typically complete within 14 days. If the fourth attempt fails, your subscription is cancelled, and your account expires.

Note: If you pay by Direct Debit, Dext makes only 1 payment attempt, as Direct Debit transactions can take up to 18 days to process. If that attempt fails, your subscription is cancelled automatically.

After automatic cancellation, Dext issues a credit note for the failed renewal invoice. You'll find it in your Sales inbox.

Buy a plan

Once you've reached the Subscription page, the steps to choose and complete your purchase are the same regardless of how your account expired. See How to buy a plan for your Dext business account - Choose your plan.
