The Dext client list gives you a central view of all your clients in one place. From this page, you can review key account details, understand client activity and workload, and quickly navigate into individual client accounts.
Any new clients added to Dext automatically appear in the client list.
Important: If you’re a Standard User in a practice account, you’ll only see the clients you have access to. Some options in the Actions and Manage menus may not be available to you.
How to access the clients list
To access the clients list, select Clients from the sidebar in your practice account.
What you can see in the client list
On the Practice Essentials plan, the client list shows a core set of columns that help you understand client setup, activity levels, and document volumes.
This includes client details, integrations, enabled modules (Dext products), and item counts across areas such as Costs, Sales, Expense claims, and Vault.
How Practice Advanced enhances the client list
If you’re on the Practice Advanced plan, the client list includes additional columns and views that help you prioritise clients and manage bookkeeping workloads more effectively.
Additional columns
Practice Advanced unlocks the following additional columns in the client list:
Practice code
Client responsibility roles
Bookkeeping managed by
Bookkeeping frequency
Next deadline
Item delay
Latest and oldest item dates
Missing and requested paperwork
Additional views
Practice Advanced also adds extra views above the client list. These views help you focus on priority clients and the accounts you’re directly responsible for.
Starred clients: You can star individual clients using the star icon next to the client name. Once at least one client is starred, the Starred tab appears, showing only your starred clients for quick access.
My clients: This tab shows client accounts where you’re set as the Account manager, helping you focus on the clients you’re directly responsible for.
All clients: The All clients tab shows every client you have access to. This is the default view.

You can update bookkeeping settings for multiple clients at once using Bulk edit.
To bulk edit clients:
