The Unreconciled Transactions in Data Health & Insights check gives you a summary of outstanding payments and deposits for a QuickBooks Online client. It uses QuickBooks ledger data to identify unreconciled transactions — it doesn't use bank statement data.
To access it, go to a client's account and select Data Health in the left navigation, then select Unreconciled transactions.
Important: This check is available for QuickBooks Online clients only. For the Xero equivalent, see Using the Bank Reconciliation check.
Who can use this check
The Unreconciled Transactions check is available to practices with the Data Health & Insights add-on, on Practice Essentials and Practice Advanced plans.
What the check shows
The Unreconciled Transactions check shows four figures at the top of the page:
Latest Reconciled Transaction — the date of the most recent reconciled transaction detected in Dext.
Oldest Unreconciled Transaction — the date of the oldest unreconciled transaction in the period.
Outstanding Payments — the total value of outstanding payments, with a transaction count below.
Outstanding Deposits — the total value of outstanding deposits, with a transaction count below.
Below the summary, Dext shows a card for each bank account identified in QuickBooks Online, including credit cards. Each card shows the outstanding payments and deposits totals for that account.
Select a card to expand it and see a graph of the bank balance over time, followed by transaction-level detail for each outstanding payment and deposit.
Adjusting settings
You can configure the Unreconciled Transactions check to match how your client uses QuickBooks Online. Settings apply to this client only.
To open the settings, select Adjust settings at the top of the page.
Two settings are available:
Unreconciled Transactions since date — sets the earliest date from which Dext counts and displays unreconciled transactions. Transactions before this date are excluded. By default, this is set to 1 calendar year before your first import.
Count cleared transactions as unreconciled — when turned on, Dext counts Cleared transactions in QuickBooks as unreconciled. Turn this off if your client uses the Cleared status to indicate reconciled transactions.
Note: Changes to these settings may affect the client's Health Score.
Syncing and recalculating data
To update the Unreconciled Transactions check, use the two buttons at the top of the page:
Sync — pulls any new data or changes from QuickBooks Online into Dext.
Recalculate — recalculates the check based on the latest data pulled from QuickBooks Online into Dext.
If you've made changes in QuickBooks Online, select Sync first, then Recalculate to see the updated figures.
