The Sales Analysis insight breaks down a client's revenue for a selected period by customer, showing who their key customers are, how much revenue each generates, and how reliant the client is on them.
To access it, go to a client's account and select Insights in the left navigation, then select Sales analysis.
Who can use this insight
The Sales Analysis insight is available to practices with the Data Health & Insights add-on, on Practice Essentials and Practice Advanced plans.
Accumulated revenue
The Accumulated revenue chart shows how revenue is distributed across the client's customer base. Customers are grouped into segments — the steeper the curve at the start, the more revenue is concentrated in a smaller number of customers. The curve levels off as later segments contribute less to the total. The total accumulated revenue for the period is shown in the top right.
Above the chart, Dext displays a summary of the top 25% of customers — the revenue they generated, and what percentage of total revenue that represents — alongside the equivalent figures for the remaining 75%.
Below the chart, a grid lists each customer grouped by segment, with the following columns:
Segment — the customer's segment group based on revenue contribution.
Customer — the contact name. Select it to open the contact record directly in your accounting software.
Revenue — the total revenue generated by that customer during the period.
Transactions — the number of transactions from that customer during the period.
Reliance — the percentage of total revenue that customer represents.
Average monthly revenue
At the bottom of the page, Dext shows two summary figures for the selected period:
Average monthly revenue — the client's average revenue per month.
Average monthly revenue per customer — the average revenue per month divided across the client's customers.
Syncing and recalculating data
To update the Sales Analysis insight, use the two buttons at the top of the page:
Sync — pulls any new data or changes from your accounting software into Dext.
