Merging split Bookkeeping and Data Health & Insights client accounts

If the same client has separate Bookkeeping and Data Health & Insights accounts, use Merge clients to combine them into one.

Before Dext combined its products, Bookkeeping (formerly Prepare) and Data Health & Insights (formerly Precision) were separate products, which meant the same client could exist as two separate accounts in your client list.

If that's the case for any of your clients, you can combine them into a single account using Merge clients.

Important: Merging client accounts can't be undone.

Merge two client accounts

To merge a split client, you need to select exactly one Bookkeeping-only account and one Data Health & Insights-only account for the same client. The Merge clients button only becomes active when that combination is selected.

  1. Go to your Clients list.

  2. Select the checkboxes next to the Bookkeeping-only and Data Health & Insights-only accounts for the same client.

  3. Select Merge clients at the top of the page.

  4. Review the confirmation window. It shows which account the data will merge into - this will always be the Bookkeeping account. The Data Health & Insights-only account will be removed from your client list.

  5. Select I understand that I won't be able to undo this action.

  6. Select Merge clients.

Once complete, the merged account appears in your client list with both Bookkeeping and Data Health & Insights modules enabled.
