The transaction summary in Dext Solo shows all of a client's recorded income and expenses broken down by category for a selected income source and date range. It's the main place to check the accuracy of transaction data before a submission and to export figures for reference.

To access it, go to Reports in the sidebar and select Transaction summary.

Reading the report

The transaction summary organises transactions by income source and displays them in two sections: Income and Expenses. Each row shows a category and the total amount recorded against it.

For UK property income sources, the report shows two figures per row:

  • Total share: the client's proportional share of the total, based on their ownership percentage

  • Amount: the full transaction total recorded against that category

For jointly let properties, Total share reflects the ownership percentage set in the relevant ownership period.

For self employment income sources, only Amount is shown.

Filtering the report

The report includes three filter controls in the toolbar:

  • Income source - use the dropdown to the right of the date fields to switch between the client's income sources, or select Without income source to view transactions not yet assigned to one.

  • Date range - select Date range to choose from preset options including tax year periods, or enter a custom start and end date. The report defaults to the last 3 months.

  • Rental property — only available for UK property income sources. Select the filter icon in the top right to narrow the report to a specific property.

Uncategorised items

If any transactions in the selected period are uncategorised or incorrectly categorised, the report displays a warning banner and highlights the affected rows.

These items are also reflected in the Total share and Amount totals, which may affect accuracy.

Select the Items to review link in the banner to open the Items to review report, where you can resolve issues before filing. See Using the Items to review report in Dext Solo for details.

Export to CSV

To export the transaction summary, select Export to CSV in the top left of the report. The export includes all figures for the selected income source and date range.
