To connect your accounting software in the Dext mobile app, go to More > Integrations and choose QuickBooks or Xero. Follow the prompts in your mobile browser to log in and allow the connection. You can then refresh or reconnect the integration from the same screen.
Before you start
Before you connect your accounting software in the Dext mobile app, check that your account can use Integrations:
Roles: Only Admin users in Dext Business accounts can connect and manage accounting software in the Dext mobile app. For more, go to Roles and permissions in Dext
Account type: If a practice manages your business, or you use Dext Solo, Integrations doesn't appear in the Dext mobile app. Use the Dext web app instead.
Software: The Dext mobile app supports Xero and QuickBooks Online. To connect other accounting software, use the Dext web app
Two-factor authentication: The connection page asks you to turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) in Dext first. For how, go to How to set up two-factor authentication (2FA) in Dext
Connect your accounting software
To connect your accounting software in the Dext mobile app, start from the More tab.
Log in to the Dext mobile app.
Go to More.
Tap Integrations.
Tap QuickBooks or Xero.
In your mobile browser, tap Connect software.
Log in to your accounting software.
Choose the organisation or company you want to give Dext access to.
Grant Dext the permissions it needs to complete the connection.
If you haven't connected accounting software yet, a banner on the Costs and More tabs also lets you connect. Tap Connect on the banner to start.
How accounting software data syncs
After you connect your accounting software, Dext checks for updates every 48 hours. It syncs changes such as new or updated categories and updates to your chart of accounts.
Manage your integration settings
To manage your accounting software connection, open the Integrations screen.
Go to More.
Tap Integrations.
The screen shows your connected accounting software with a Connected status and the text Syncing automatically. From here, you can refresh your integration data or reconnect your accounting software.
Note: You can't change some integration settings in the Dext mobile app. To update advanced or account-level settings, use the Dext web app.
Refresh integration data
To refresh your integration data, tap Refresh integration data on the Integrations screen. Use this if you changed something in your accounting software and want Dext to sync the latest information sooner.
While Dext refreshes your data, an Integration sync in progress banner shows. When it finishes, tap Reload on the Sync completed banner.
Refreshing updates information such as new or updated categories and changes to your chart of accounts. It doesn't affect your existing connection.
Reconnect your accounting software
To reconnect your accounting software, tap Reconnect on the Integrations screen. Your connection to your accounting software expires once a year. When it does, reconnect to keep publishing items.
Reconnecting authorises the existing integration again and restores publishing if the connection expired.
Get a notification when Dext creates a new supplier
To get a notification when Dext creates a new supplier in your accounting software, turn on Notify me when creating a new supplier. You can find this setting in the Integrations section of More, if your accounting software supports it.
When the setting is on, Dext notifies you while you publish an item whose supplier isn't in your accounting software. A Create supplier pop-up opens, so you can choose an existing supplier instead. This helps you avoid duplicate suppliers.

Why can't I see Integrations in the Dext mobile app?
