Connecting to HMRC for VAT (UK Only)

Never let a filing date slip by again. If your clients are MTD-ready, Dext Precision can connect to your HMRC MTD Agent Account to pull back important information on your clients’ VAT filings, current connection status and obligations.

Important to note: HMRC Integration is available only to Precision Teams with the location set as UK. To check this please go to Team HomeTeam ProfileTeam Location – set as United Kingdom.

What you need to know:

  • Ensure you are connecting to the correct HMRC Agent account where all your client’s in Precision are listed in order for us to pull the correct data.
  • Any clients that are managed via their own HMRC log in we will not be able to pull data for, only those clients listed in your Agent Account.

Getting set up

Under Team Home:

  1. Click on Integrations

Here you will find the ability to integrate with HMRC.

  1. Click Connect to HMRC – and connect to your MTD Agent Account

In the HMRC integration card, you’ll see your HMRC connection status; this manages your connection in Dext Precision as a business or agent with HMRC, and will allow you to see the HMRC data for all your eligible clients. You can use the links on this card to understand more about the HMRC agent sign-in process.

Using the data

There are two main areas you will be able to access the information from HMRC for your clients:

  1. Deadlines Dashboard (UK Only)

Once you have integrated with your HMRC Agent Account if you view the Deadlines Dashboard, and scroll to the far right, you will be able to view a section called “MTD VAT”. This is really handy for getting an overview of all your clients HMRC connection status, key VAT dates and status for the latest period. Deadlines Dashboard also allows you to manage all deadlines related to HMRC VAT, Companies House Details and Account Filings and Confirmation Statement information.

  1. MTD Dashboard (UK Only)

the HMRC Dashboard is your location for all things MTD in your practice. Each row is a VAT period detected by Dext Precision for each client, including the filing period, due dates, status, amount and outstanding values.

Note: If you have just connected to HMRC, your Dext Precision clients will need to refresh before the data can be collected. You can either wait 24 hours for all your clients to refresh automatically, or refresh each of them manually.
