Due to API limitations, BrightBooks requires you to reconnect your Dext integration every 30–60 days. When your connection expires, you'll see a publishing error - reconnecting will restore it.
Important: Only Admin users - including accountants and bookkeepers accessing a client account - can reconnect accounting software.
Reconnect to BrightBooks
To reconnect:
Go to Business settings in the sidebar, then select Connections.
Select Manage next to BrightBooks, then select Reconnect.
You'll be redirected to BrightBooks and prompted to log in.
Select your business name from the Business Name dropdown, then select Connect.
Follow the remaining steps until you return to Dext.
Select Finish to confirm.
If your business name isn't showing in the dropdown
If the Business Name dropdown is empty when you try to reconnect, you'll need to disconnect from the BrightBooks side first before trying again.
To fix this:
Log in to your BrightBooks account. If you're an accountant or bookkeeper, open the relevant client's organisation in BrightBooks.
Go to Add-Ins.
Under the Dext Prepare section, select Disconnect.
Go back to Dext and repeat the reconnection steps above. The business name should now appear in the dropdown.
