Dext Solo is designed for sole traders and unincorporated landlords who need to manage income sources, categorise transactions, and meet MTD IT obligations. Moving a qualifying bookkeeping client to Solo gives them access to Solo-specific features, including tax reports, rental properties, and HMRC submissions.
Before you start
Before moving a client to Solo, confirm they meet the following criteria:
Set up as a sole trader or unincorporated landlord
Not VAT registered
Not incorporated
Not integrated with accounting software
Not using expense claims
The Migrate to Solo option won't appear if any of the following apply:
Your subscription doesn't include Solo seats
The client is on a trial or self-paying
The client's name contains "Ltd", "Limited", "Partnership", or similar terms
The client has an active accounting software integration
The client has Data Health & Insights enabled
The client's country of registration isn't United Kingdom with GBP as their currency
Note: Moving a client to Solo cannot be undone. If the client currently has expense claim data, export any claims you need before proceeding - they'll lose access to that data after the move. VAT extraction will also be turned off.
Move a client to Solo
To move a bookkeeping client to Dext Solo:
Go to your Clients list.
Select Manage next to the client and choose Migrate to Solo.
Review the eligibility criteria and select Move business to confirm the client should be moved.
Review the feature differences between bookkeeping and Solo and select Continue.
Enter the client's individual details and income source details, then select Submit.
Tip: For guidance on income source settings, see How to add an income source in Dext Solo.
Once submitted, the client is set up on Solo. Select Go to client to open their account, or Close to return to the client list.
